JP Rankin

JP Rankin is an estate planning attorney in Smith Debnam's Charleston office, where he leads the firm's Estate and Trust Planning practice in the Lowcountry. He helps individuals and families make clear decisions today that protect the people they love tomorrow.

Before law, JP built a career in business management and hospitality, where the job came down to listening well, explaining things clearly, and following through. Before joining Smith Debnam, he owned and ran his own Charleston estate planning practice, advising families, business owners, and real estate investors.

JP earned his law degree from California Western School of Law and is licensed in South Carolina. He is a member of the Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce and the Charleston Preservation Society, and has volunteered with the South Carolina Bar's pro bono wills clinic in Charleston.
